About Principal Attorney Drew Benbow
Attorney Drew Benbow is a native of the Anacostia area of Southeast Washington, D.C. Growing up in a time when D.C. was the nation’s murder and drug capital, Mr. Benbow saw first-hand the impacts of the unequal and unfair application of the law to many of its residents. Early on, he decided that he would do something to help reverse these effects.
Today, Washington is a far different town from the one he once knew. Now one of the most transient big cities in America, D.C. is no longer the “Chocolate City.” But inequalities in the law remain acutely chocolate. At the same time, many who have transitioned to the city from other states find it difficult to navigate the complex and unique legal challenges they might face in this federal district.
These dynamics make it imperative to have a lawyer who is knowledgeable of the critical nuances of D.C.’s system of laws. As a native who has also served at the highest levels of government at various federal agencies, Mr. Benbow brings the experience necessary to confront any law enforcement agency in the court of law.
He will fight feverishly on your behalf to achieve the best outcome possible.
Attorney Drew Benbow has served nearly a decade as a civil servant in the federal government, including at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. He has also served as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer for nearly two decades, with four yearlong combat zone deployments to the Middle East. He received the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Afghanistan.
Mr. Benbow is a product of the D.C. public school system, where he graduated from Anacostia Senior High in 2001. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Hampton University (Hampton, Va.) in 2006, and a Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University (Macon, Ga.) in 2009. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He is licensed to practice in Washington, D.C.
